Chandertal Lake is situated at an altitude of 4250 meters, which is the most attractive lake in Himachal Pradesh. This lake is located in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The size of this lake meets the half moon, hence the name of this lake is Chandertal Lake. The water of the lake looks blue when viewed from a distance and shines like a mirror when approached.

Hikkim Village is a small village situated in the Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, whose height is about 4400 meters. Here is the world’s highest post office.
There is a trend among tourists to post letters to their homes and friends from here. The pincode here is 172114. Ringchen Chering has been serving here as a postmaster since 1983.

Koumik Village is the highest motorable village in the world with a height of about 14400 feet. The world’s highest restaurant is here. Comic Monastery is located here. From here there is a beautiful view of the surroundings. Due to the high altitude, you may lack oxygen here, so tourists are requested to travel here with peace and restraint.

The distance from Kaza Town to Comic Village is about 18 kms. This village is situated on an open ridge.

The Village of Langza Village, Himachal which is also famous for the fossils of sea creatures. Small groups of houses made of Tibetan Shelly are found here. Langza village is situated at an altitude of 4400 meters in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, India.

The most interesting thing here is that the Langza and Spiti valley was a valley of marine fauna and flora below the Tethys Sea millions of years ago. Today there is no Tethys Sea, but the fossils of sea creatures are still giving testimony of their time here.

Finding fossils requires just a keen eye, not a guide.

Kibber Village is a very beautiful village situated in Spiti district adjacent to Chichum Village which is situated at an altitude of 4270 meters. The golden sun glistening in the valley amidst the high snowy hills, the crops swinging in the fields of Kibber, the Spiti river rising from the glaciers and tearing the sand dunes make Kibber one of the most beautiful villages of Spiti.

The pieces of clouds float in these villages throughout the day. Standing on a mound in the Kibber village of Spiti valley, it seems as if we are touching the sky with our hands up. The muddy mountains, sandy dunes, chanting of mantras in the quiet resonating monastery, the wildlife here doing the ruckus and everything so close to nature will force you to imagine that painter.
Kibber Gaon is the main gate of Tashi Gang and Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary.

There is proper arrangement of homestay to stay here. The Parangala pass trek starts from this village which is open almost till September which will take you straight to Tsomori Lake. This trek is about 90 km long. It has to cover a short distance daily, which takes seven days.
While trekking, wild animals like the Snow Leopard Ibex can always come in front of you and thrill you.

Chichum Village is located in the Spiti Valley at a distance of about 22 km from Kaza, which is connected by a bridge. Chicham Bridge is 120 meters long and 150 meters high bridge which is built over Lambasamba Nala. Due to the completion of this historical bridge, the inaccessible Chicham village residents have got relief.

From here there is a bypass road to Manali. Hotels and homestays are also available in Chichan village. In fact, the beauty of Chicham Gaon is a delight to the tourists all over the world.

Ki Gompa is built in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, about 12 km from Kaza. The monastery was established in the 13th century. It is believed that this is the largest monastery of Spiti Valley. This monastery located in Leh looks exactly like the math, its height is 13500 feet and this monastery is built on the rocks in a conical shape. It was made by Ringchen Sangpo.

It remained safe even in the earthquake of 1975 AD and was affected by the invasion of 19th century Sikhs and Dogra kings. Some ancient manuscripts and some weapons have been kept in this monastery.

Cham Utsav is celebrated every year in the month of June-July. In the year 2000, the Dalai Lama performed the Kalachakra Abhisheka at the Smee Monastery.

Dhankar village is situated on a hill which was once the capital of Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. Dhankar means a fort built on a rock. Its altitude is 3894 meters above sea level. A monastery is located here Dhankar Gompas which is situated on top of this village.

The view of the Spiti river and the tall conical mountains make this village even more scenic. This is a small village which is about 37 kms from Kaza. It has been the capital of Spiti for many years.

It is situated on a ridge which was meant to defend against attack. Dhankar village is also famous for Spiti Wildlife today. Tabo Village is a small village situated on the banks of river Spiti in Spiti district, about 50 km from Kaza.

The monastery located here is more than 1000 years old. The Dalai Lama believes that Tabo Monastery is the holiest monastery where he has expressed his desire to stay after retirement.

Tabo village remains very cold in winters.
Tabo Monastery is also known for its natural beauty and its natural caves.
There are 2 ways to reach Tabo. The first easy way from Shimla, the second a little more difficult from Manali. The road to Manali remains open from May to mid-October. The road here is open throughout the year except in winter.

Gue – The Live Mummy

Gue was found in a tomb located at an altitude of 6000 meters in Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh, India, which is a living mummy identified as Bhikshu Union, Tenjin.
Villagers came to know about the mummy in 1975 when a part of the tomb collapsed due to an earthquake in the area. Since then this place has become a favorite destination of tourists.

It is believed that this Mummy’s nails and hair are still growing. When the Himalayan Wings team reached GUE, we found that the villagers of GUE are very nice people and they do not shy away from helping the passengers. This mummy is now kept inside the Glass in the newly built temple where tourists can see it.

Nako Village is situated at the height of about 3600 meters from the sea level.This is located near Indo China Border in Trans-Himalaayan region of Kinnaur district.It is the last village of Kinnaur district. Outsider visitors need inner line permits for staying in this region. All major attractions can be enjoyed by foot.
